Winner: Amritpal Randhawa
Amrit is a second year MBA student at the University of Victoria (UVIC), specializing in International Business. He completed his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in India and also holds certification in Digital Signal Processing (DSP). He worked as Assistant Manager in the Production Planning and Business Planning functions of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. - Swaraj division (A company with exports to Bangladesh, SriLanka, Mozambique, Fiji, Nigeria, Sudan, and other African countries) in the automotive sector in India. During his studies, Amrit worked with Vancouver Island Helicopters (VIH), a Victoria based company, to explore new markets for business growth and travelled to South America to carry out the market entry research for VIH. He also gained work experience with EnviroSpeak Media Inc. in collaboration with MITACS through a research project, EcoMeter i.e. to develop an algorithm for rating consumer 'green' products. Amrit also worked as Trainee Analyst with Vodafone Essar Ltd. in the telecommunication sector.
Outside of school, he holds leadership roles in several student-run and charitable organizations. Amrit is also working voluntarily on a project to explore the possibility of imports to facilitate trade in the sectors identified under the Import Control List (ICL) by the federal government of Canada. He is a member of the AIESEC Global Internship Program, and Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. Amrit is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi.
