Winner: SPF Precut Lumber
SPF Precut Lumber produces and exports precut pallet stock and Canadian softwood. With their innovative and large-scale inventory and logistics management systems they have advanced positive reputational gains for the BC forestry sector in markets that were unfamiliar with BC products. They export to the Middle and Far East. SPF was the winner of the Primary Products and Resources category at the 2008 BC Export Awards.
Finalist: Misty Mountain Specialties
Misty Mountain is one of the founding pioneers in the export and development of BC's Wild Mushroom industry. They overcame the challenge of introducing a new food product and concerns of its safety for consumption in the marketplace. They have customers in over a dozen countries including France, Holland, Japan and Belgium and were listed as one of the top 100 Canadian Food and Beverage Processors in Canada in 2009.
Finalist: Sinclar Group Forest Products Ltd
Sinclar Group Forest Products was founded in 1962 and is Canada's largest exporter of stud lumber to Japan. Sinclar was instrumental in establishing the industry standard, J-Grade lumber for the Japanese export market and by developing strong long-term relationships and committing to product excellence, they have remained competitive despite a downturn in their biggest markets, the US & Japan.
