Winner: Coast Tsimshian Resources
Coast Tsimshian Resources is a log marketing and forest management company wholly owned by the Lax Kw'alaams First Natives. Based in Terrace, BC with a small marketing office in China, Coast Tsimshian Resources has experienced significant growth in wood exports to China, Japan and Korea.
Finalist: Conifex Timber Inc
Conifex is a softwood forest products company operating in the Northern Interior region of British Columbia. The company's primary business is the manufacture of structural grade SPF dimension lumber, with a focus on sustainability. After starting up in 2008 with just one employee, Conifex now employs approximately 450 people directly and has experienced exponential growth in export sales.
Finalist: Kyahwood Forest Products
Kyahwood Forest Products uses mill ends that would otherwise be disposed of and makes finger jointed products for the construction industry. Kyahwood is owned by the Moricetown Band and provides jobs to 65 members of the First Nations community.
