MacDonald, Dettweiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) has been recognized as British Columbia’s Exporter of the Year at the 2006 B.C. Export Awards. This year’s Awards saw winners in nine different categories, including Exporter of the Year.
The winners were announced at a gala luncheon ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Co-hosted by Canadian Manufactures & Exporters and the Ministry of Economic Development, the luncheon was attended by several members of Vancouver’s prestigious business community.
“These awards demonstrate that British Columbia continues to be a global leader in trade and export,” said Colin Hansen, Minister of Economic Development. “B.C.'s exporters will play a large role in our government's Pacific Leadership Agenda by continuing to strengthen both our economy and our relationships with partners in Asia Pacific and all over the world."
Presented annually, the Awards recognize the province's top exporters. All BC-registered companies that have exported a product or service for two or more years are eligible award nominees.
Along with Exporter of the Year honours, MDA was awarded the Advancing Technologies Award. This award is presented to recognize companies and organizations that succeed in harnessing the powers of intellectual property and value added know how. As a world leader in providing complex operational systems, tailored information services and electronic information products, MDA was considered most deserving of the award in this category.
“MDA have earned a well-deserved award for their achievements,” said Werner Knittel, vice president, B.C. Division Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME). ”It’s also important to recognize the winners in all categories. Their efforts strengthen our local economy and demonstrate B.C.’s role as a major contributor in the global economy.”
There were nine other award categories this year, recognizing achievements in areas such as new exporter, sustainability and leadership.
