2009 AWARDS Gala
IMW Industries Ltd. of Chilliwack was named as Exporter of the Year for 2009.
The Honourable David Emerson received the BC Export Leadership Award in recognition of the significant contributions he has made to British Columbia’s export industry throughout his career both in the public and private sectors.
“It’s an honour to recognize David Emerson for his distinguished record of promoting and supporting B.C.’s exporters. He has more than earned this year’s BC Exporters Leadership Award” said Black. “B.C.’s ability to export its goods and services is key to our economic success. I congratulate all of this year’s BC Export Awards winners and nominees who have demonstrated great success in the face of the global recession.”
Now in their 27th year, the B.C. Export Awards are organized by the CME and co-hosted with the Province of British Columbia. The awards recognize British Columbia’s top exporters in eight sector categories, plus two for individual achievement, and one for the overall Exporter of the Year.
“The companies selected this year have all demonstrated the leadership and innovation that characterizes B.C.’s export industry. They have continued to achieve impressive export results despite exceptional economic challenges this past year,” said Craig Williams, Vice President, CME, B.C. Division. “We are pleased to recognize their achievements and the important role they play in the success of the B.C. economy.”
The sold out ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver Hotel, was attended by over 400 people including award winners and nominees, leaders from British Columbia’s business and global trade community, and Minister Iain Black, who represented the Province.
