Eligibility

To be eligible a company must:
  • Be a BC registered company;
  • Produce goods and / or services that have significant Canadian benefits;
  • Have earned foreign revenue of at least $100, 000 in the last fiscal year;
  • Have been operating for a minimum of two years and have started exporting within the last three years.

Selection Criteria:

The successful nominees will demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through such management practices as:
  • Demonstrating a continuous effort to improve sustainability in management/ business practices through creative and innovative measures;
  • Adopting an effective Code of Conduct and/or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, communicated to employees, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders;
  • Committing to consider economic, social and environmental consequences in their decision making;
  • Having a procurement policy that requires suppliers to have in place Codes of Conduct and/ or CSR policies;
  • Having an established Environmental Management System with the objective of reducing environmental impacts;
  • Demonstrating Human Resource practices that place a high priority on employee development and well-being, and maintaining stringent health and safety regulations for employees and contractors;
  • Developing community outreach programs in their host communities;
  • Having public reporting of their performance across the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainability.
